My name is Pan Xueting. I am 20 years old. I used to be a member of the study committee in Class 1, Grade 6, Houge Primary School. Now I have become a middle school student. I am a third year master major in automation at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, P. R. China. With tremendous interest in Industrial Engineering, I am writing to apply for acceptance into your Ph.D. graduate program.
Education background
In 1995, I entered the Nanjing University of Science & Technology (NUST) -- widely considered one of the China’s best engineering schools. During the following undergraduate study, my academic records kept distinguished among the whole department. I was granted First Class Prize every semester,In 1999, I got the privilege to enter the graduate program waived of the admission test.
At the period of my graduate study, my overall GPA(3.77/4.0) ranked top 5% in the department. In the second semester, I became teacher assistant that is given to talented and matured students only. This year, I won the Acer Scholarship as the one and only candidate in my department, which is the ultimate accolade for distinguished students endowed by my university. Presently, I am preparing my graduation thesis and trying for the honor of Excellent Graduation Thesis.
Research experience and academic activity
When a sophomore, I joined the Association of AI Enthusiast and began to narrow down my interest for my future research. With the tool of OpenGL and Matlab, I designed a simulation program for transportation scheduling system. It is now widely used by different research groups in NUST. I assumed and fulfilled a sewage analysis & dispose project for Nanjing sewage treatment plant. This was my first practice to convert a laboratory idea to a commercial product.
In retrospect, I find myself standing on a solid basis in both theory and experience, which has prepared me for the Ph.D. program. My future research interests include: Network Scheduling Problem, Heuristic Algorithm research (especially in GA and Neural network), Supply chain network research, Hybrid system performance analysis with Petri nets and Data Mining.

My name is Mao Junpei. I'm 19 years old. I come from Ankang, Shaanxi Province, which is an outstanding person. As we all know, Shaanxi is a province with profound historical and cultural connotations. Perhaps this is why I love history and writing. With the opening of Qinling Tunnel, Ankang City, my hometown, has become an important transportation hub city, playing the role of connecting the South with the north. As an Ankang person, I also hope to become a media personage, like my hometown, to strengthen the cultural exchange and communication between the north and the south, so that more people can understand Shaanxi and more people can understand China. I live in a harmonious and happy family, maybe influenced by my father. I have a warm personality, generous personality and love to make friends, so I have developed better social skills. I love reading novels. As a boy, maybe a lot of people like suspension and reasoning, but I like youth love. I like to be close to life and our stories, about growth, about dreams, about emotions. In my opinion, these are true enough. I think science fiction is too false, but it won't interfere with my fantastic thinking. Of course, I prefer to watch historical war movies. Especially the TV play "Bright Sword". Li Yunlong's domineering spirit and Zhao's politician's elegance are exactly what I try to learn. Another example is the movie Wind Sound. Finally, Gu Xiaomeng's monologue "Because the nation has reached the time of survival, our generation can only spare no effort to save in case." This gives me not only the shock of my heart, but also my favorite specialty in this world of light and shadow. I love youth and history. I am strong and fragile. Maybe this is contradictory, but philosophically, contradiction is the motive force for the development of things. I am also eager for my contradictory physical ability to find my own stage of development.
